Alexander Megapanos was born in Athens, Greece in 1960. He studied Biochemical Engineering in Brussels, Belgium (Institut Meurice Haute Ecole Lucia de Brouckere) and specialized in Fermentation Industries. Following his calling and for the love of wine, he went on to study oenology at the University of Bordeaux II, France. During his studies he worked for various wine producers in France, namely Les Vignerons Du Val D'Orbieu, Chateau Margaux, Les Vins de Bergerac and the Cave Costebelle in the southern Côtes du Rhone and in the oenological laboratory of Marc Dubernet.

After his return to Greece, he practiced oenology on a freelance basis, working with several important local producers. It was during this time that Alexander became acquainted with the different Greek grape varieties and understood the potential they possessed.

In 1990 he established his own wine trading company in Spata, Attica, which comprised of an oenological laboratory and wine bottling facility. In 1997 the company moved to privately owned premises in Pikermi, Attica, where the present winery was built.

Following a rich tradition in the field of wines, Alexander’s vision is to produce limited quantities of excellent quality wines (appellation and regional wines) using unique local grape varietals from distinguished wine producing areas of Greece. His personal involvement in each harvest and the respect for the local grape varieties and their terroirs gives our wines their unique character.

In 1999, Alexander initiated the establishment of
the Federation of Wine Producers of Attica, a co-operation of several winemakers from the Attica region, responsible for implementing programs for the development and promotion of the region's wines.
